How do I start a game?
Open the app and tap any cell. You play X against the computer at Medium until you change it. Tap the arrow at the top right, or Play again when a game ends, to start over.
How hard is each level?
Easy takes a win when it sees one and otherwise plays anywhere. Medium also blocks your wins and plays its best move about half the time. Hard plays a perfect game: it never loses, so a draw against Hard is the best anyone can do.
Can the computer go first?
Yes. Under Your mark, choose "O, go second" and the computer opens as X.
How do I play with a friend?
Choose Friend at the bottom of Play and pass the phone back and forth. X always goes first.
Why did my game start over?
Changing the opponent, the difficulty or your mark starts a new game. A game counts toward your scores only once it ends, so a game you leave unfinished isn't counted.
What counts as a streak?
Your streak is how many games in a row you've won at a level. A loss ends it; a draw leaves it as it is. Scores shows your current streak and your best one.
How do I reset my scores?
Open the menu, tap Settings, then Reset scores. This clears every win, loss, draw and streak, and it can't be undone.
Can I change the colors or the app icon?
Yes. In Settings, pick Light, Dark or System, and Graphite or Black after dark. Under Accent, choose one of eight colors. The accent draws the winning line and changes the app icon to match.
Where is my data stored?
Your scores and settings stay on your iPhone. They're included in your iCloud or computer backup, so restoring a backup on a new iPhone brings them with you.
