How do I dictate?
Tap the microphone on Dictate and start talking. Your words appear as you speak. When you pause, Talk Easy stops listening, cleans up what you said, and formats it for the mode you picked. Then tap Copy, or Share to send it to Messages, Mail, Notes and more.
Why didn't my text get cleaned up?
Cleanup and formatting use Apple Intelligence, which needs an iPhone 15 Pro or later with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings, and a language Apple Intelligence supports. Without it, Talk Easy still transcribes and shows your words as you said them, and tells you why on the Dictate screen.
Does Talk Easy work offline?
Yes. The first time you dictate in a language, iOS may download Apple's speech model for it. After that, transcription and cleanup both work without a connection.
Talk Easy stops listening too soon, or not soon enough
In Settings, under Dictation, choose a Short, Medium or Long pause, or turn off Stop when I pause to keep listening until you tap stop.
What are modes?
A mode shapes the same words for where they're going: General, Text Message, Email, Notes, Social Media, Technical and Creative. Pick one before you dictate, or tap another afterwards to reshape the result. To make your own, open the menu, choose Modes, and tap New mode to set its instructions, tone and layout. You can also export modes as a file and import them on another iPhone.
How does Talk Easy learn my words?
When Talk Easy gets a name or a technical term wrong, fix it in the result and tap Copy or Share. Talk Easy remembers the correction and writes it your way next time. You can see, add and forget learned words in Settings, under Learned words.
Which languages does Talk Easy support?
Talk Easy transcribes every language Apple's on-device speech recognition supports. Choose one in Settings, under Language. Cleanup and formatting are available in the languages Apple Intelligence supports.
Can I start dictating without opening the app?
Yes. Add the Talk Easy Dictate widget to your Home Screen or Lock Screen and tap it, or say "Start Talk Easy dictation" to Siri. You can also add it to a shortcut or the Action button.
Can I reshape text from another app?
Yes. Select text in any app, tap Share, then Talk Easy. Pick a mode, then tap Copy.
Where is my data stored?
Everything stays on your iPhone. Your history, modes and learned words are included in your iCloud or computer backup, so restoring a backup on a new iPhone brings them with you. To stop saving dictations, turn off Keep history in Settings.
