Feathers home screen, the Roost: Deal me in, Pick up where you left off, Host or Join, and Your style
Feathers at the table: Robin, Wren and Finch on the plum felt, a Red 5 played, Low called, and an Ask Quill button above your hand

Two partners. One nest.

You and your partner sit across the table. Every hand goes the same four ways.

  1. Bid

Bid how many points you and your partner will take, from 70 to 180. Or pass.

  2. Take the nest

Win the bid and the five-card nest is yours. Pick it up and bury any five.

  3. Call it

Name trump, then call High or Low for the whole hand.

  4. Take tricks

Follow color if you can. Trump wins. Make your bid and keep every point you took.

45 cards and a Bird.

Red, Yellow, Green and Black, each numbered 1 and 5 through 14, and the Bird, always the top trump. Every color has its own shape: a heart, a sun, a leaf and a moon.

Counters score: 1s are 15, 5s are 5, 10s and 14s are 10, and the Bird is 20. The last trick takes the nest’s points too. First team to 500 wins.

Same cards. Different winner.

After naming trump, the bidder calls High or Low for the whole hand. A fistful of 5s, 6s and 7s suddenly looks great. Try it on this trick.

Trump: Red
Wren Led
Robin Your partner
Finch
You Can’t follow

High: Wren’s Green 13 is the best Green, so Wren takes the trick, and your Yellow 14’s ten points go to Wren and Finch.

Low: Robin’s Green 6 is the best Green, so your partner takes the trick, and your Yellow 14’s ten points stay with your team.

Either way, the 1 tops its color and the Bird beats everything.

Shoot the moon.

Rare, bold and unforgettable. Instead of a number, bid the moon: take all ten tricks with your partner and win the game on the spot. Miss even one and it costs you 360.

Feathers host screen, Your table: Sam hosting, with Wren, Robin and Finch in the other chairs as AI birds while friends join
Feathers hand result: Set! Wren bid 135, Green, High. Us 50 points, them minus 135

Up to 4 players

Friends at the table.

One phone hosts, and friends nearby join over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Everyone plays from their own phone and sees only their own hand. Empty chairs get a bird, and if someone’s phone drops out, a bird takes over their cards. No internet, no accounts.

Birds who play fair.

Robin, Wren and Finch see only their own cards. They count what’s been played, pull trump, smear points to their partner and bid like old hands. Stuck? Ask Quill for a suggestion.

Questions, answered

Short version: it’s a nice, honest card game.

How much is it?
Free to play: the whole game, the AI birds and friends nearby. I know this game. Is it the same?
Feathers is a trick-taking game in the family of Rook, played Kentucky Discard style: bid, take the nest, bury five, call trump. High or Low is our twist. Rook is a trademark of Hasbro; Feathers is not affiliated with Hasbro.
How many people do I need?
Just you. Robin partners with you against Wren and Finch. Up to four friends can play, each on their own iPhone, and any empty chair gets a bird.
Does it need the internet?
No. Friends join over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth in the same room, phone to phone. There’s no account, and your games stay on your phone.
I’m new to card games. Can I learn?
Yes. Point badges show what every card is worth, the game tells you when you must follow color, and the rules are one tap away. Stuck? Ask Quill for a move.
Android?
iPhone first. Feathers is coming soon to the App Store.
